VivaLocal is an app designed to connect individuals seeking unique experiences with local hosts. Whether it’s a traveler seeking to explore the true essence of a destination or a local resident looking for an exciting break from routine, the customer journey was designed to deliver a personalized and engaging experience at every step.
Beginning with a small team and serving as the sole designer, I was part of the entire business strategy process.
Challenge
Starting from scratch meant that I had the opportunity, and the responsibility, to build the entire user experience from the ground up.
One of the significant hurdles was establishing VivaLocal as a contender against established giants like Airbnb, Vrbo and Trip4real.
My role
I was deeply involved in every aspect of the project:
I conceptualized the logo and persona, drawing custom icons and illustrations. I also crafted intuitive navigation, clear information architecture, and engaging visual elements to enhance usability and satisfaction.
Beyond the user interface and experience, I contributed to work creatively and influence the platform’s strategic direction and marketing.
This project holds a special place in my heart as it allowed me to conceptualize the brand identity and design the final product.
Persona definition
We created personas representing our two main user groups: travelers seeking local experiences and residents wanting unique activities in their city.
Customer Journey
I mapped out the customer journey to visualize the user experience from initial discovery to engagement and beyond. This allowed us to identify key touch-points and opportunities for interaction.
Ideation
Brainstorming sessions generated ideas for both essential and desirable features, aligning with user needs and business goals.
MVP
We prioritized the implementation of core functionalities essential for the platform’s functionality, ensuring that the MVP provided a solid foundation for future iterations and expansion.
