RemotePay is a payroll solution designed to simplify the payment process for US companies hiring remote workers, primarily in Latin America. Starting as a premium product, it offers a platform that includes salary management, paid-leave approval, contract management, and reimbursement control and review.
This project allowed me to shape the product from inception to launch, ensuring it met the needs of our diverse client base.
My Role
I led the design efforts for the product, from defining an intuitive workflow, designing and rolling experiments, and ensuring it was user-friendly and effective.
I conducted thorough market research, interviewed clients, and collaborated closely with stakeholders to understand their needs. I then crafted the user interface and experience, ensuring it met the requirements.
Challenge
The primary challenge was to create a solution that catered to both current clients using the main hiring product and new clients opting for the standalone payroll solution. This required ensuring compatibility and integration between different user bases while delivering a unified and effective user experience.
Discovery
Conducted market research to analyze competitors and identify opportunities.
Interviewed existing clients and held focus groups with HR professionals to understand pain points and requirements.
Ideation
Brainstormed features, categorizing them into “nice to have” and “mandatory.”
Essential: salary management, paid-leave approval, contract management, and reimbursement control and review.
Nice-to-have: personalized recommendations and bulk import functionality for adding employees.
MVP
Focused on core functionalities to deliver a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) that met essential user needs.
Developed features for manual and bulk employee addition, payroll plan selection, and comprehensive employee profile management.
Launch
Launched the platform with a user-friendly dashboard showcasing payroll plans, employee details, and contract statuses.
Implemented scenarios for existing and new clients, ensuring a seamless experience regardless of the user’s entry point.
